THE HBC GROUP CO. LIMITED STORY

Every great business begins by solving a real problem. HBC Group Co. Limited was founded after recognizing a challenge affecting Kenya’s healthcare industry. Drawing on over a decade of experience in the healthcare sector, our founder saw that many highly skilled healthcare professionals excelled clinically but lacked the business support needed to build sustainable healthcare enterprises.

Doctors, pharmacists, dentists, nurses, hospitals, and clinics often struggled with business setup, licensing, regulatory compliance, marketing, recruitment, insurance empanelment, revenue optimization, debt collection, claims management, day-to-day operations, and navigating Kenya’s data protection requirements. They had dedicated their lives to caring for patients, yet they were expected to navigate complex business and regulatory environments with little support.

We believed they deserved a trusted partner who could take care of the business side of healthcare, allowing them to focus on saving lives. That belief gave birth to HBC Group under one simple promise: We Take Charge, You Excel.

As we worked closely with healthcare providers, their needs continued to evolve, and so did we. We introduced Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes to support lifelong learning for healthcare professionals. We also created healthcare talks, webinars, and public awareness initiatives to educate patients and communities on important health issues.

Before long, our expertise attracted pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, healthcare technology firms, international hospitals, NGOs, development partners, and foreign investors looking to establish or expand their presence in Kenya. We expanded our services to include market entry strategy, local representation, regulatory approvals, healthcare business advisory, digital transformation, strategic partnerships, and healthcare marketing, positioning HBC as a one-stop partner for organizations entering or growing within Kenya’s healthcare ecosystem.

From this journey emerged HBC MedTech, our flagship healthcare consulting division, dedicated to helping healthcare businesses establish, optimize, digitize, comply, and scale.

As we continued identifying gaps in the market, we realized our vision extended beyond healthcare consulting. The name HBC Group was intentional from the very beginning because we envisioned building several complementary businesses that solved real challenges across different sectors.

To support manufacturers and innovators bringing healthcare products into Kenya, we established HBC Distribution, connecting pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and healthcare software providers with hospitals, pharmacies, distributors, and healthcare facilities through efficient market access, supply chain partnerships, and product launch support.

Recognizing the growing need for credible healthcare education and professional media, we launched HBC TV, a platform dedicated to healthcare conversations, public health education, webinars, studio production, CME and CPD broadcasts, and thought leadership that connects healthcare professionals with the communities they serve.

To expand access to quality learning, we also established HBC Education, which connects professionals and organizations with executive education, professional development, certification programmes, and capacity-building opportunities through partnerships with reputable learning institutions. For instance, through its partnership with the University of Washington’s Global Health E-Learning Programme, HBC Education offers professional development courses to healthcare professionals across East Africa, such as Leadership and Management in Health (currently enrolling) among many others.

When professional associations, SACCOs, unions, NGOs, and institutions required secure, transparent, and technology-driven elections, we developed HBC Electa. What started as an online voting platform evolved into sophisticated election management, monitoring, and political agent management systems that promote transparency, accountability, and confidence in electoral processes.

We also identified a significant gap in ethical international recruitment and talent mobility. This inspired the creation of HBC Travel & Recruit, which helps skilled Kenyan professionals access verified international employment opportunities while providing recruitment, relocation, travel, documentation, and career support with dignity and transparency.

As our clients increasingly sought trusted guidance on insurance, we expanded into HBC Insurance, an insurance agency that connects healthcare professionals, businesses, and the general public with appropriate insurance solutions, including professional indemnity, medical insurance, motor vehicle insurance, business insurance, life insurance, last-expense cover, among other insurance products from the leading insurance companies operating in Kenya.

Today, HBC Group has evolved into a multidisciplinary business solutions group united by one philosophy: identify underserved needs, develop practical solutions, and become a trusted long-term partner to every client we serve.

Whether we are helping a doctor establish a clinic, supporting an international healthcare company entering Kenya, distributing innovative medical technologies, educating healthcare professionals through HBC TV, expanding professional learning through HBC Education, delivering secure election technology through HBC Electa, connecting professionals to global career opportunities through HBC Travel & Recruit, or providing insurance solutions through HBC Insurance, our mission remains the same.

We exist to remove obstacles, create opportunities, and help organizations and professionals achieve sustainable success.

We Take Charge, You Excel.
